We at Brainy Beautys have sincere Detroit pride and therefore seize any opportunity to get our paws on some homegrown product! Enter: Purely Pro Cosmetics!

Founder Margery Krevsky boasts that her products are designed as long stay solutions, with versatile options and often multiple purposes. I am convinced that once you give this line a try, that you will never again run to your local drug store when you find your eye shadow at tray scraping status or when you're wiping your cheek stain compact in hope of one last hurrah. The quality, longevity, and luxury of these professional quality cosmetics will hook you and turn you.

A few of my faves:

5 WELL EYESHADOW PALETTE: Available in 15 combos, this silky shadow comes in a family
perfect for blending.

LIP GLOSS: Quality lip gloss, at it's finest. Long lasting and no stickiness!p I am rocking a natural pink hue called "petal" and can't wait to get my hands on some more statement making shades.

FACE HILITES: Is it a cheek stain? Is it an eye lid highlighter? Is it for body shimmer? Is it a bronzed booster? Yes, yes, yes, and yes! I love, love, love, the versatility of this light weight, creamy, feminine must-have. I am a huge fan of the shade "pop tart".

YSL Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Vernis à Lèvres Glossy Stain

YSL Paris? Yves Saint Laurent? Saint Laurent Paris? I still vote for YSL.

Rouge Pur Couture Vernis à Lèvres Glossy Stain is fancy/French for kick-ass long wear lip gloss.

I have 10 Rouge Filtre. It is a perfect bright-yet-sophisticated berry red.
And the color & shine LAST.

It is the most I have ever paid for a lip product ($32), but stays so well & feels so nice on that I totally feel justified.

I will buy another when I run out-- in a year or two.

Fashion Fair Lip Teasers

Tested by Elisha!

Moisturizing, light touch of color. May be a bit scary in the tube, but look great on!

Coral is almost peach, but with an edge.
The orange looks like cherry Popsicle.

Great color, great shine, great consistency--GREAT!

Cosmoholic Lip Gloss

Starting at the beginning, these lip glosses have great packaging and a terrific scent. Kind of vanilla frosting, the real good, homemade kind.

Moisturizing, but without the stick present with so many glosses.

I tested two colors:

Prudish Pink- the perfect, understated nude-ish pink!

Rockstar Red- loud & proud. Great all-purpose red.

I let some friends try, now I have to buy new ones because my friends still have them!

Consider buying two when you order-- that way, you will be able to keep one hidden away for yourself!

The Cosmoholics are so good, they will even match you with the perfect color!!! Just send them your picture.

IntelliWhite - Pout-n-Polish

I was so excited when I found out I was going to test this product. I thought to myself, what a great idea - lip gloss and teeth whitener all in one. Unfortunately, the polish never worked. I tried and tried to get it to work, but nothing ever came out. The polish left my mouth feeling clean and minty fresh. I am really bummed that the lip gloss was defective. Oh well, this product definitely had the potential to be great, but fell a little short of my expectations.

DDF Glossy Lip Treatment

Tastes like peppermint ice cream!
Has spf!
Glossy, but not like you are trying to use your lips as a mirror.
Not sticky!

DDF, I love this!

I use it alone & over non-SPF-rated lipsticks/stains.

Beauty Addicts RelationLIPS

Seduce

Loving these colors!

Non-stick, good staying power for glosses, moisturizing.

Not too shiny, but there is magic-shine-goo (the
white sparkly-ness) if you are so inclined.

Good for mixing as well.

Fun for your lips!

Lipstick Queen: Big Bang Theory Illusion Gloss

From JenB:

I love it. It lasts relatively long; doesn't come off as much as other glosses.
There's barely enough light pink color to notice--it's more shimmery than anything.
I find it also works well over my regular lipstick, brightens it up a bit.

Bobbi Brown: Sheer Color Gloss

As if you needed more of a reason to love Bobbi Brown!
Sheer gloss, nice applicator, low-tack, wears great.
Enough color to make it interesting, but not too much.
Good gloss-factor, but not so much gloss that you look gloppy.
Perfect for summer, whenever it gets here.

Bobbi Brown: Lip Quads

Pink
Four little squares of loveliness.
Rosy, glossy loveliness.
I think I need to get the Rose palette.
Maybe the Coral for summer?
Not only great colors, but the Quad tucks away so nicely in my purse.
The color that looks hot pink is not like that once it's on--just the
perfect pinky-natural!

Global Goddess-- Lip Veils

Moroccan Mystique Lip Veils
CARDAMOM
Good color-not too strong, but definitely there.
Glossy- no blinding glare, just a nice shine.
No stickiness or goopy-ness!
Goes on smoothly, feels hydrating, yet light on the lips.
Wears surprisingly well for a gloss!
Very nice scent--kind of a spiced cherry.

Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss

Bobbi Brown
Lip Gloss

There are four different Bobbi Brown lip glosses I want to rave about. The first one is the Lip Compact Blush Pink Creamy Lip Color. It was one of the new lip colors recently featured in Lucky Magazine. It is a creamy soft pink color that goes on and stays on. I love the compact and the color. The next compact color is Bobbi's Glitter Lip Gloss in Baby (pink). It is a shimmery light pink that works well by itself or over a darker shade. I love it because it is makes my lips feel soft and shiny at the same time. The next two glosses come in little tubes with a lip brush, and they both have a hint of vanilla to them. The Mauve lip gloss makes my lips feel so soft when I apply it. It is a great day or night color. Bobbi's new Confetti Shimmer lip gloss is my favorite by far. I love the shiny pink color that it paints on my lips. This color can be worn alone or over another color to give it a little sparkle and shine. It is thick and stays on well. I am in love with Bobbi Brown's Lip Glosses!

Sugar Paint - Mineral Lip Glaze

Sugar Paint
Mineral Lip Glaze
Fruit Punch
These fun little tubs of lip glaze have a lot of color. If you are not a fan of cocoa butter or shea butter, you might want to stay away. The fruit punch color is almost a crayola red on my lips, and it smells a little like fruit punch, but the cocoa & shea butter smell are a little overwhelming. Overall, its not bad, but I think I might like the caramel or milk chocolate flavors a little better than the fruit punch.

IsaDora Pump 'n Plump Lip Gloss

IsaDora Pump 'n Plump Lip Gloss With Micro Collagen
Sweet Lychee #41

As with many glosses promising fuller pouts, I didn't see any change in my pucker. However, my lips are super glossy and super moist, and the slightly spicy, tutti-fruity scent was a nice, perk-me-up surprise. There is a tingling sensation upon application, which doesn't last long - a bonus in my book.
Sweet Lychee is pale, irridescent lavendar in the tube. On the lips and on its own, this color is practically clear, with just the slightest whisper of color. Micro sparkles are noticeable upon close inspection. I haven't tried it over lip color. I do like the brush applicator - a nice change from the sponge tip of most wands. The bristles are soft and smooth.
Given the choice for a clear lip look, my personal preference would be for a nice lip balm. But, if you are looking for high gloss factor, Pump 'n Plump is a good choice.

Palmer's Products

From Jen, moved from http://alldoneup.blogspot.com:
Palmer's Original Cocoa Butter Formula Lotion
Dark Chocolate & Cherry Lip Butter
Swivel Stick
Foot Magic
I tried the Dark Chocolate & Cherry Lip Butter first--not a good experience. It was very greasy, lasted a VERY short time (I'm talking an hour max) and did not taste good at all. I would've had to keep re-applying if I actually liked it. Definitely not a good product for me.
The Swivel Stick was a little better. It says to use it for marks, blemishes and rough dry skin--or--to moisturize dry, chapped lips. Living in this aweful, cold climate, my lips get dry very easily. This product definitely worked well. I put it on before bed, and woke up with soft lips. Not sure I'd use it all the time, but that's just me.
I've been using the original cocoa butter formula lotion, and so far the results have been good. My skin has stayed soft and hydrated. It's been recommended by one of my doctors to use anything with cocoa butter for the best dry skin results. So far, I agree!
The Foot Magic cream works well, although it's greasy! The directions suggested putting it on before bed, then wearing cotton socks over it. I did that, but then my feet felt like they were sweating. I ended up taking off the socks in the middle of the night, but my feet were definitely smooth in the morning. They have remained smoother than normal over a few days, so I'm thinking the product is actually working.

Tarte-- Double Dose Berry Boost & Gloss

Tarte
Health Couture

Coolest tube!
Very glossy.
Just a bit sticky.
Long lasting color (some color even after I washed my face)
The best part, it is SUPER moisturizing!
I don't feel the need to obsessively re-apply lip balm while I am wearing it.
My lips also appear smooth.
There's a nice mintyness to it.
Plus, there are all these extracts in it which make it good for you, and tarte helps the environment, so wearing it is like doing a good deed!http://www.tartecosmetics.com/tartegives.html

Pomegranate Punch
Pinkier red than I usually go for, but not so much color as to be overpowering. Lighter red, not a deep or dark color.
Acai Boost
Haven't tried the color in daylight yet, just had to tell this: put it on while sitting around before dinner. Completely forgot about it. Ate, drank, watched the Pistons beat the Timber Wolves... Went into the bathroom to get ready for bed-- lips still have color!!! I am a bit amazed. Will test further, want to make sure it wasn't a freak occurrence;)
Go Go Goji & Acerola Rush
I LOVE these sassy little lip glosses. Last weekend I brought my tube of Acerola Rush with me to a wedding shower. I think I have converted all of the VS Beauty Rush wearers to Tarte! As far as the colors go, Acerola Rush is more of a peach color. Go go Goji is a very sheer pink. Both colors are great for every day wear. I agree with everything Kate and Catherine stated above. By the way, did we mention that it has Vitamin C and Shea butter in it?

Catherine:
Acacia Boost
Love it! This is the best gloss I have ever tried! Ditto Kate's remarks on the cool design of the tube - not only does it look chic, but the applicator is a soft sponge tip - way better than those with the brush (e.g. Stila Lip Glaze). A gentle squeeze and you can see just how much gloss you've got. Acacia Boost is the perfect light berry color. And unlike Stila and others, there is actually noticeable color! Also, good moisturizing, way less tacky, and better staying power than other glosses I've tried. I'm definitely ditching my Stilas for more Tartes!
Pomegranate Punch
Obviously, we love the Tarte Double Dose Berry Boost & Gloss line, so this is just a color review.Pomegrante Punch is a light, cherry red. It's not quite the right color for me - a little too red/bold, even though the color is sheer and the coverage is perfect.
Edit: Okay, scratch that. I tried it again today, and I don't know if the sunshine is affecting my outlook, or what, but today Pomegranate Punch was perfection! I was careful not to over do it, and ended up with a nice, light cherry pink. Mwah!
Jill:
Go Go Goji
The packaging is lurvely. It's very expensive looking and luxe. It's a nice weight and a substantial size. The color is a soft pink with flecks of iridescence. It goes on smooth and the minty taste made me feel like my limps were plumping. I'm not sure if they looked all that different but they felt that way. I really like the head of the gloss too. It's a soft fuzzy brush that absorbs the color well so it can be applied smoothly and evenly. Mama like!
